Stratford’s regeneration is a shining example of how to transform a formerly run-down, urban location into a property hotspot. Thanks to the 2012 Olympics, this area now boasts contemporary apartment blocks, riverside parks, sports facilities, new retail outlets and fantastic travel links: if you are considering a property investment, Stratford is one of the most attractive destinations in the capital.
Thanks to its close proximity to Canary Wharf and the City, Stratford has become a popular destination for younger people working in financial services and more and more young professionals are moving here. The area is also popular with parents, attracted by the wide choice of schools. There are over ten primary schools in Stratford together with two schools offering all-through education and two ‘Outstanding’ secondaries. Stratford is also home to students attending the University of East London (UEL). With a major campus here, there is plenty of demand for student lets.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of the main attractions in Stratford. Here you can see Anish Kapoor's swirling Orbit tower, visit Zaha Hadid's curvaceous London Aquatics Centre and enjoy the park’s waterways, playgrounds and cafes. You can also take part in a year-round programme of activities and sports events at the park. The Westfield Shopping Centre, one of the largest urban malls in Europe, is a great place for shopping in Stratford, while theatre lovers will be pleased to know the Victorian Theatre Royal in Gerry Raffles Square is still going strong. Stratford also boasts cinemas, a bowling alley and a casino.
